Marian Urquilla-Flores

 

For almost 30 years, Marian Urquilla-Flores has helped build opportunities for families of color, working to shift the systems and structures that shape their lives. Marian is an executive coach, consultant, and writer. She coaches senior executives working on racial equity and economic justice issues and serves as a member of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Results Count leadership development faculty. Both as a consultant and Director of Program Strategies at Living Cities, she has helped launch large-scale philanthropic initiatives in diverse program areas, including community development, climate resilience, and community health. With Robin Hacke, she co-founded the Center for Community Investment, where she leads programs designed to support leaders working to improve opportunity so that everyone has a fair chance to lead a healthy and productive life. From 1996 to 2008, she served as co-founder and executive director of the Columbia Heights/Shaw Family Support Collaborative, leading youth violence, family strengthening, and community engagement efforts. Recognized by the Rockefeller Foundation as a Next Generation Leader, she has been a Mellon Fellow in the Humanities and an Annie E. Casey Foundation Children and Family Fellow.
